Isolation of Harveyi clade Vibrio spp. collected in aquaculture farms: How can the identification issue be addressed?

Aquaculture is a fast growing industry with its development hampered by bacterial diseases. Vibriosis caused Harveyi clade strains known for causing heavy loss especially in shrimp aquaculture farms. For farm treatment and pathogen spread management, veterinarians researchers need reliable identification tools. A range of methods have been presented Vibrio spp. recent literature but little feedback on their performance made available to this day. This study aims at comparing providing guidance use. Fifty farms were sampled colonies isolated using specific culture media before microscopic analysis genomic profiling ERIC-PCR. preliminary step was carried out MALDI-ToF mass spectrometry. Four compared strain 14 newly strains: whole genome sequencing (digital DNA Hybridization (dDDH)), 5 MLSA schemes, ferric uptake regulation ( fur ) lecithin-dependent haemolysin ldh single gene based methods. Apart from dDDH which reference method, no technique could identify all the isolates species level. The other tested techniques allowed faster, cheaper sub genus can be interesting when absolute precision not required. In regard, seemed promising. • article compares (dDDH, MLSA, MALDI-ToF, analysis, detection). result showed that only evaluated method suitable accurate dDDH. Guidance provided. Considered scenari include in-farm disease diagnosis research works. features an up date phylogenic tree clade.
